Impact of COVID-19

We are so happy that since Tuesday 13 April we were able to open to the public again in our new space at 4 Market Square with all the appropriate measures in place.  Between Tuesday 24 March 2020 and Friday 9 April 2021 we delivered food parcels to everybody who was referred to us because we didn’t have the space to be able to give food out safely from our old premises.  We were very grateful to Christchurch Hailsham who let us use the church during this time to give us more space to get deliveries packed up ready for the drivers to pick up and deliver.

We saw a 101% increase in households referred to us in the year Apr 20-Mar 21 giving out 5567 x 3 day emergency food parcels.

As regards food donations, we had a 78% increase of food being donated to us but a 95% in food being given out.  The impact of this has meant that we often have low stocks of certain items so please do always check what we want before donating to help us ensure we always have the items we need to pack the food parcels.

We have seen the impact of the last year on so many peoples lives and we are looking to set up a few different projects this year to further help the people we are seeing plus the wider community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way over the last year to enable us meet the huge rise in demand of our service.
